Understanding the Grant Process

All grant applications, regardless of purpose, must be supported by a Lions, Lions/Lioness, Lioness or Leo club located in a Central or Eastern Pennsylvania Lions district. The club advisor must sign all Leo club applications. To locate a club, visit https://directory.lionsclubs.org and use the Find a Club locator. For additional help, please call 484-546-2085.

Please complete the appropriate application, depending on the type of funding sought. Grant types include Patient Care, Equipment, Professional Education and Community Projects. Please see Grant Application Guidelines for detailed instructions.

Submitting Grant Applications

Please email completed applications to grants@nepalsf.org. If necessary, applications may be mailed. Please note, however, that this may delay the response. Applications may be mailed to:

Grants Committee
Northeast Pennsylvania Lions Service Foundation
P.O. Box 415
Macungie, PA 18062

In the case of a medical emergency or other compelling situation, an application may be considered on an expedited basis. For consideration, please complete the Expedited Request form. The individual requesting the grant and the contact person from the sponsoring club must sign the completed form. The completed grant request and Expedited Request form should be emailed to the President at grants@nepalsf.org.

Grant Consideration

The Grants Committee will consider requests of $5,000 or less as they are received.

The Board of Directors will consider requests exceeding $5,000.

  • Submit by February 1 for March meeting
  • Submit by May 1 for June meeting
  • Submit by August 1 for September meeting
  • Submit by October 1 for November meeting

The applicant will be notified of the Foundation’s decision in the same manner in which the application was submitted.

Grant Funding Requirements and Completion Guidelines

Funding may require implementation by a particular date. Funds not used for the purpose(s) stated in the request MUST be returned within sixty (60) days of the end of the grant period. If there are extenuating circumstances, the Foundation must receive an explanation in writing.

Upon completion of the funded service or project or within a year of the grant, whichever is sooner, the sponsoring club must submit a written report to the Foundation detailing how the funds were used and the outcome of the service or project.
